Feb-Mar-Apr-May 2012
Happy Winter everyone! We can’t believe we are coming up on 8 years here at Twisted Yarns! Thank you to all of our great customers for supporting us! We will be having a big sale to celebrate with some great surprises. Our Anniversary Sale will run Thursday through Saturday, February 9-11. We will be unveiling a new limited edition TY Chico Bag for the occasion and will have a lot of great giveaways and, of course, great food! Look for the e-mail that will go out closer to time for details. Also in February will be a trunk show featuring Classic Elite’s wonderful Liberty Print – a great self-patterning, superwash wool yarn used in the popular Molly Scarf.
We also are excited to have Beth Brown-Reinsel joining us again for a round of workshops. She’ll be here May 5 & 6 and you are going to love her classes. They are very well organized and chock full of information on her Fair Isle techniques. We’ll have sign up info coming out the end of February. We also are looking forward to Sally Melville’s visit in October!
We have lots of new yarn arriving daily. Just arrived is a new shipment of Madelinetosh Tosh Sock, Tosh DK and a few colors of Pashmina. If you love the Pashmina, let us know, we’ll order more! Malabrigo just sent our market order of new sock colors and their new Arroyo, a dk weight superwash merino. Dream in Color has a new sock yarn called Everlasting that is flying off the shelf--- oh those colors! For those of you into the ruffled scarf yarn craze, we have a new yarn from Rowan – Kidsilk Creation which makes a beautiful soft ruffled scarf.
Berroco has some great new yarns this spring. We’ve received new colors of the ever popular Origami and we have Captiva, Lago, and Versa, and Linsey in stock now! Captiva is like a worsted weight version of Seduce, Linsey is a cotton/linen blend with great patterns, Lago is a viscose/linen blend at a great 5 sts/inch, and Versa is a cotton blend tape-like yarn at 3.5 sts/inch. We’ve already received terrific new colors of Sol del Grade from Lang.
The newest Sublime member, the Baby Silk & Bamboo, is amazingly soft and has a great pattern book. Araucania’s Toconao was a huge favorite when we carried it before, and we have new colors of it in stock now; it’s a lovely worsted merino. Lontue from Araucania is on the way as well, a great thick and thin linen/cotton blend. Another linen blend is Linolo from OnLine. From Prism, we’ve received their brand new Delicato, a laceweight 100% tencel, that’s dyed in their incredibly rich colors. Colinette has just sent our Jitterbug 400 order. Same lovely yarn, but 400 yard skeins, so an ample quantity for a pair of socks! We love those colors.
Classic Elite’s new Katydid and Sanibel are on the way. Katydid is 4.5 sts/inch and is a cotton ribbon like the Sol del Grade from Lang, but in solid colors. Sanibel is DK weight cotton/viscose that’s a tonal with a fleck of viscose here and there. It’s lovely. New colors of Firefly and Cotton Bam Boo will be coming too! For the lace knitters out there, we have the Zephyr Wool-Silk blend on the way in their rich colors. That’s just a sampling of what’s on the way!
The new Dreamz Knitting needle sets, and crochet sets have been super popular! We have a bunch in stock, so come by and check them out!
The new books keep coming. Some of the more popular new books include Knit Local, Coastal Knits, Knitting Scarves from Around the World, Knitting off the Axis, Textured Knits, Cutest Ever Baby Knits, Custom Knits 2, and A Handknit Romance. For comic relief, we have Stephanie Pearl McPhee’s new book, All Wound Up.
We love Brooklyn Tweed’s patterns, so have just received most of the patterns from his collections. We expect Stephen West’s new collection, WestKnits 3, to arrive in February.
We have some exciting new classes for this spring! Randi Kiester will be teaching a class on her adorable Kaja’s Jacket which includes both knitting and crocheting. We have a model in the shop so stop in to check it out.
We are also offering a Wayfarer Scarf Class, based on the Jared Flood design. This is a great class for learning to read charts! We are re-introducing the Summer Cardi and the Sleeveless Summer Shell Classes for the soon-to-come warm weather! They are both easy first garment classes, with very wearable designs, and loads of learning!
We hope you'll join us in our efforts to reduce waste and help others at the same time! We have Twisted Yarns Chico Bags with our cute sheep on them! Bags are $6.50 and each time you use it for your purchase, we’ll give you a 10˘ token, and you can choose one of the three charities below for the donation. We’ve already donated over $92 to our charities this quarter! Reuse your bag, and give some of our cash to charity! We also donated $160 to the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research, for the sale of the Trekking XXL yarn last year, in the Susanne colorway. Thank you for continuing to help us support our neighbors.
